Six air tankers, three helicopters, and 35 crews are battling the Briceburg Fire near Yosemite National Park, CalFire reported Tuesday.
The wildfire, which began at 2:34 p.m. Sunday near Highway 140 and the Briceburg Road bridge, has grown to 800 acres. According to CalFire, it was 10% contained on Tuesday morning.
Caltrans reported that as of 1:23 p.m. Tuesday, Highway 140 was closed about a half-mile east of Midpines at Colorado Road to 2.4 miles west of Incline because of the fire.
Highway 140 is one of the main routes into Yosemite.
No structures have been lost to the fire and there have been no injuries or deaths, CalFire said.
Community Meeting Tonight at 7
Fire officials, along with the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol, will host a Briceburg Fire community meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mariposa County Fire Station No. 21.
The station is at 6362 Highway 140 in Midpines.
